Hey Gang!
So something came up this week in our spin class that I thought we could all benefit from. It was one of those mornings when I think a lot of people were feeling the effects from the long weekend. We all tend to overindulge on weekends right? So with the Memorial Day weekend, it tended to be a little bit longer. And the thing is the food we eat can affect our mood and emotions for up to 48 and sometimes even 72 hours after the fact. Isn’t that nuts?
So it’s not always instant or even within a few hours of how your body can feel. Sometimes it takes up to 2-3 days for your body to feel that bloated sensation of eating too much poor low fiber diet.
So for example, if you happen to be at all gluten intolerant, the effects might not show up right away after a meal. If you’re lactose intolerant, the effects may not show up right after you eat ice cream. So my suggestion is to always have a food journal. Because by journaling, you’ll be able to tell what’s going on in your body. And there are studies that show that people can actually do the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing just from poor eating habits. So if you’re feeling really lethargic or depressed or maybe even angry today, it might not have anything to do with what’s going on in your day, it might actually be from something that you ate or ingested 2-3 days prior.
The Good news? You can always change that! Soon it will be the weekend, and if you choose to make that decision right now to eat healthy today and tomorrow, come the weekend your body, your emotions and mood should also reflect that. So just wanted to pop in quick to share that with you and let me know in the comments if you suffer from that and what foods you’ve found to be a trigger for you. I’d love to get the conversation going! 🙂
