Hey, Gang! Jill here. Just popping in quick with a topic that I feel is near and dearest to my heart. And that is, what do you do on those days when you just don’t feel like working out? Are there any ways of just getting yourself going?
And the answer to that is YES!
So my first tip is to allow yourself five minutes. Just five minutes. So you’re dressed, you’re ready to workout. Maybe your day has gotten away from you. Maybe you’re tired and there are other things that come up. Give yourself five minutes of exercise. So if it was to get on a treadmill or an elliptical, allow yourself five minutes. At the end of those five minutes if you still don’t feel like working out, then give yourself permission to stop.
Because it shouldn’t be a chore the whole time that you’re doing your exercise. But usually, within the first five to ten minutes, your mindset starts to change. And it really gets you in the right frame of mind.
And the other tip that I have is that while you’re doing those first five minutes, I want you to think about all those reasons why you should work out. Not the reasons why you shouldn’t, but all the reasons why you should! And they all should be centered for the most part around you. So in those five minutes, you’re just thinking of you. You’re not thinking about problems. You’re not thinking about what it is you should be doing or need to be doing. It’s all about you and being a better you. A healthier, stronger, fitter you.
So at the end of those five minutes, after you spend time thinking about all the awesome things that are going to be happening to you and how much better you’re going to feel by doing some form of exercise, then go ahead and stop. If you really feel like whatever it is that’s drawing you to not work out is more important than everything you thought about yourself during those five minutes, then I guess it’s okay to stop. If during those five minutes your health and making yourself a priority isn’t a priority, then go ahead and stop.
Do you see where I’m going?
Because if you really take the time to think about it, you do matter. And you are important. And whatever else is around will wait. And gang, it doesn’t have to be an hour. It can be a ten or fifteen-minute workout. Heck, it could be a five-minute ab workout! But the idea is not to give in to that “I don’t feel like it” attitude.
So the next time you don’t feel like it, give yourself five minutes…give yourself permission to do five minutes. And then if you really really can’t find the reasons why you should continue, then give yourself permission to stop.
Because exercise should not be a chore. You should enjoy it while you’re doing it. And believe me, gang, not every day do I feel like doing it. Sometimes I take it one song at a time if I’m running. Sometimes I take it one part of a routine at a time if I’m following something. But the important part is, is that we do attempt to try.
And that’s why it’s so important to schedule your workouts in so the day doesn’t get by.
I hope this helped and I hope you have an awesome day!
You matter, always work towards striving toward a better you. A healthier, fitter you ❤
