Hey, everyone! Jill Here 🙂
I just wanted to pop in really quick with something that came up especially today as I was at the hair salon. And that is, what does healthy look like?
You know, going through cancer twice now and being that cancer advocate, I feel like even though you don’t always feel good on the inside, which is what cancer does to so many of us. We don’t always feel good inside. A lot of time we feel really crappy. But then people will say oh but you look so good! And it got me thinking today because I got that comment twice today.
So what does healthy really look like? What does healthy feel like?
Is it as my husband would say eating those god awful green veggies or that cardboard kind of stuff that you eat? Is that what healthy is? And I just want to let each and every one of you know that may be struggling right now whether it be with cancer, or an illness or menopause or just fighting to feel like you again. That is what healthy feels like. It feels like having my body back to the way it was. And I don’t mean looks. I mean how it felt. To know that when I wake up not everything aches. or you go to reach for something and you don’t have that brain fog.
But my thing today is that I just want you all to know that even in your deepest struggles that maybe on the outside you still look really good and that frustration of hearing that you look great. Well, looking good isn’t everything. It’s important to most of us but maybe it means sitting down with a book. Maybe it means going and getting your hair done. Maybe it means working on you spiritually. But every one of us has a different definition of what healthy looks like or feels like. You need to find that for you.
I know for me personally, as a two-time cancer survivor I know deep in my bones what that feels like. So you can say to someone you look terrific, but do me a favor, if you know anyone who’s been struggling whether it be a finanical hardship, loss of a loved one, whether it be health wise or an illness. Take the time to ask them how are you really doing? That one sentence. Because that might be the opening they need to let you know how their healthy really feels. Or how their healthy really looks.
Gang it’s a war that we’re waging out there on health and fitness. Find what looks good on you. But most importantly, find what feels good on you. Because it’s not about what you look like in the mirror. It’s not about what that scale says. It’s about the inside of you. Are you healthy? Are you spiritually healthy? Maybe that’s what’s missing. Your health matters. It matters to me. So if you’re struggling in any way shape or form, reach out to me. Reach out to someone who understands because they are out there.
Your healthy view is different from everyone else’s. Fight until you find your healthy. Maybe it means you need to go to the salon. Maybe it means you need to get a manicure and pedicure. Whatever it is, find it. And then let that healthy feeling and look out so that the rest of the world can see you.
