Hey Gang, Happy Friday!
I just wanted to pop in super quick—I just finished showing the last bit of exercises in my free group I’ve been running this past week. I like to usually throw out a fit tip here and there on a Friday and the one thing that has been really resonating with me this week between the Confidently You Community and my challengers is that it’s about progress…it’s not about perfection.
Hey, it’s Friday today, right? Some of you have probably already mentally checked out from your day. You’re already thinking about what you’re going to do tonight or what you’re going to do over the weekend. And maybe you did or maybe you didn’t get your workouts in the way that you wanted to this week. Maybe you did or didn’t get all your healthy eating in the way you wanted to this week. Maybe you did or didn’t get all the water in that you wanted to. The point is that if you at least make that effort, it’s about being just a little bit better today than you were yesterday. It’s not about making a huge lifestyle change necessarily. Although some people do do that and that’s awesome! But for most
The point is that if you at least make that effort, it’s about being just a little bit better today than you were yesterday. It’s not about making a huge lifestyle change necessarily. Although some people do do that and that’s awesome! But for most people, the way that success works is that you make small changes that add up over time. Progress. We’re not all going to be perfect, gang. We’re going to mess up from time to time. We’re not going to feel like working out on certain days. We’re not going to feel like drinking our water, we’re going to prefer a bottle of wine or a beer. We’re going to prefer the nachos over a salad.
But progress. Make the progress. Make yourself important enough to matter.
You know, one topic we’ve really been talking about a lot this week is that we strive for perfection all the time. And for some of us, it literally almost paralyzes us. Because then we’re afraid to fail. We’re afraid to take that next step. And for Moms, GrandMoms—when we are so paralyzed by being afraid to do that next step, we’re not benefitting anyone. So what if we fail? It’s OKAY! Because tomorrow is a brand new day. The beauty is that every day we wake up is a new opportunity. It’s a new day. So this weekend and the rest of today I want you to just focus on progress. Focus on being a little bit better today than you were yesterday.
So what does that mean? Maybe it means drinking one extra glass of water. And then tomorrow focus on being just a little bit better than you were today. And maybe if that means if you didn’t get an official workout in, then tomorrow morning when you wake up that’s the first thing you do and then get it out of the way.
Do you see where I’m going? Just each day get a little bit better. Each day you improve a little bit more.
So gang, progress NOT perfection. Do it for you. Find that reason why you want to be your healthiest and fittest version of you possible. Because you know what? That’s the best version of you ❤
