I got a message this morning that really, really bothered me. And I just decided that it was time for me to address it here. And the big thing is, is that number one, are you making yourself a priority?
Because I got a message this morning from someone who I cherish, that said that she’s too old. And gang, I’m here to tell you that you are never, ever too old to make yourself a priority!
You know, as women, we tend to put everyone else before ourselves. Our kids, our husbands, our family our friends. And then we’re last on the totem pole. I know I’ve said this time and time again, but if you’re not at your best, you can’t be at your best for everyone else.
A classic example is this morning. I’m on my way to take care of my Mom who’s having some minor surgery. And I absolutely did not have time to get a workout in this morning. But guess what? I MADE the time. Because I know for the next couple of days I probably won’t get a formal workout in. I’ll probably be able to get little bits and pieces in wherever I could squeeze it in. So I decided to make myself a priority today.
Now does that make me selfish? No 🙂
It’s like when you’re on an airplane and they are going over the instructions before you take off. They always say to put your mask on first before you put your children’s mask on. It’s the same thing here. And it doesn’t matter if you’re 10, 15, 25 or 55. It is NEVER too late to make that change. It is never too late to make yourself the priority. Put yourself first. Make health and fitness your goal this year. And everything else will take care of itself. I promise you those dishes will still get done at some point. I promise you, the laundry will still get done at some point.
And you know what? If it doesn’t get done in the exact time frame that you or someone else wanted to but you did something for you? Oh well! Nothing is going to change just because you chose to do something for you. Mother’s Day is coming up, and that’s why I really wanted to address this.
So if you’re someone who hasn’t done it, make that your Mother’s Day gift! Make you your priority for Mother’s Day. Because you know what? You DESERVE IT! And honestly, so do all the people around you. Because you will be a better person for making yourself a priority ❤
